I am Hannah, the creative soul behind Lalele Fibre Arts.
I find it fascinating and almost magical that by using two needles or a hook and some yarn, we can create such a wide variety off items using what are essentially little loops of yarn!
Over the past few years, self care has become an important part of looking after my mental health and knitting and crochet have played such a central role in slowing down the pace of life and taking time to breathe and create.
My patterns are designed to do just that, to give you a chance to slow down, take a minute for yourself, relax, unwind and create a beautiful item for yourself or someone else.
I am a wife and mother, living with my husband and three young children on a smallholding in Romania. We moved here from the UK in 2017 to live a quiet life in the countryside. It has been the best decision we could ever have made, both for ourselves as a married couple, but also for our little family too.
Being surrounded by nature provides a lot of inspiration for my work. The blossom flowers in the spring are so beautiful and have already inspired my ‘Blossom Cowl’ pattern! A little fact for you, Lalele (pronounced ‘lal-el-ey’), means ‘Tulips’ in Romanian. You guessed it…I like tulips too!
I have loved working with yarn, thread and fibre for as long as I can remember, ever since I was taught to knit and cross-stitch as a child. My late grandmother never could have imagined, that the hours spent together in her bedroom with some plastic knitting needles, would sew the seeds for a love of knitting and set me on the path to become a designer. My grandfather shortened the knitting needles for my small hands. Those first knitting needles felt so special and I cherished them for many years.
No matter what went on in my life, I gravitated back to knitting and crochet. It was like something was trying to tell me that my life would be heading in a different direction. I just didn’t know it yet.
When I first started out, I made and sold finished items, mainly accessories and baby items on Etsy. When the time was right, I began to focus on designing and writing my own knitting and crochet patterns. This is where my passion lies and I am excited to be on this journey with you!
I will always enjoy making items for other people. If you would like to commission the making of a knit or crochet item, please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can discuss the details further.
